Mac OSX is different versions, just that they all are using macbooks. Has anyone seem something like this or know why this might just pop up on the Mac side?Īll the users are using different ISP with different network equipment, routers and located around the city. We did try connecting to a different client of ours to see if it isolated and it isn't as it the same error. However both of the connection just stopped working and we don't know why. We had 2 users yesterday having this problem and having them flip-flop to another client app seems to work. We aren't hitting any limit on user licenses as we have enough for everyone. We have mostly window VPN users and they are all OK. What stranger is there are other Mac users on the network connected without a issue. We then switched from the build in VPN client and used IPSECURITAS which works but then stops and then built in VPN client works and stops. We try redoing the pre-shared key and redoing the VPN setup. What happening is people all of a sudden get kicked off of the VPN and then these Mac users can't connect, getting errors such as "L2TP-SERVER DID NOT RESPOND". When the IPSec client initiates the VPN tunnel connection, the IPSec server pushes the IPSec policies to the IPSec client and creates the corresponding VPN tunnel connection. In the last two days, we been noticing a issue with some mac users trying to use either IPSECURITAS VPN client or the built in MAC VPN Client. Network extension mode allows users at the central site (where the VPN 3000 series concentrator is located) to access network resources on the client site.Īfter the IPSec server has been configured, a VPN connection can be created with minimal configuration on an IPSec client, such as a supported Cisco 870 series access router. Resources at the client site are unavailable to the central site. Client mode is the default configuration and allows only devices at the client site to access resources at the central site. The Cisco Easy VPN client feature can be configured in one of two modes-client mode or network extension mode. Easy VPN server-enabled devices allow remote routers to act as Easy VPN Remote nodes. This protocol allows most VPN parameters, such as internal IP addresses, internal subnet masks, DHCP server addresses, WINS server addresses, and split-tunneling flags, to be defined at a VPN server, such as a Cisco VPN 3000 series concentrator that is acting as an IPSec server.Īn Easy VPN server-enabled device can terminate VPN tunnels initiated by mobile and remote workers who are running Cisco Easy VPN Remote software on PCs. The Cisco Easy VPN client feature eliminates much of the tedious configuration work by implementing the Cisco Unity Client protocol. Figure 6-1 shows a typical deployment scenario. The example in this chapter illustrates the configuration of a remote access VPN that uses the Cisco Easy VPN and an IPSec tunnel to configure and secure the connection between the remote client and the corporate network. Remote access VPNs are used by remote clients to log in to a corporate network. Site-to-site VPNs are used to connect branch offices to corporate offices, for example. Two types of VPNs are supported-site-to-site and remote access. The Cisco 870 series routers support the creation of Virtual Private Networks (VPNs).Ĭisco routers and other broadband devices provide high-performance connections to the Internet, but many applications also require the security of VPN connections which perform a high level of authentication and which encrypt the data between two particular endpoints. I would love something that has the multi-screen capabilities of Pro Video Player, but was a lot more reliable and robust. So I was curious if there's any other software out there that is both reliable and feature-rich for use in a live production environment. I've also done performance tests on the same machine, using the same media, across the above mentioned software, and Qlab was the quickest to drop frames, etc. The problem that I have with it is that it's a little inflexible and quick to setup in last minute situations. The best balance between professionalism and feature-set that I've found. My problem with it is that it always feels buggy and unreliable to me, and when I've used it I've had not one but two backup systems in place because I really don't trust it. Its interface is more streamlined than Pro Presenters', it's very powerful with its multi-screen capability. I love this software for what it can and should be. It also feels and seems less reliable than Playback Pro (find myself restarting it more than I want to because it starts to bug out at a certain point). More feature rich than Playback Pro, but since it comes from a house of worship background it isn't the most professional looking, and I personally find its interface to be a little convoluted. They had mentioned a 64-bit version several years ago and now its nowhere to be found. Pretty much the industry standard, I like its simplicity and reliability, but they have major problems keeping the software up to date with Apple OS releases and it's a little light on feature-set nowadays. So I've been doing video for quite a while and I was curious if there are any video playback software alternatives that I am not thinking of. This, combined with fast-grown timber, meant some posts started to fail in less than five years. Problems soon started to creep in, as these were less effective and some of the methods used to apply them weren’t rigorous enough to provide adequate protection. However, concerns over its safety meant it was removed from the market and it was replaced by a different set of formulations. Up until 2006, copper chrome arsenate (CCA) was one of the most common treatments and this did a decent job of keeping the rot at bay. This is actually a brand name for wood treated with one of the more popular products, Tanalith E, so it’s a bit like calling your grainstore vacuum a Hoover. There is a broad range of preservative-treated timber on sale in the UK but, regardless of the process they’ve gone through, they often get referred to as tanalised. They reckon they’ve cracked the problem, with timber and treatments that will stand the test of time, plus they’re willing to issue guarantees to back them up.īelow, we’ve picked out a couple of options that promise a longer lifespan and priced them up against creosote, metal and plastic alternatives.Īll of the products featured are protected by manufacturer warranties of at least 15 years and, with some guaranteeing 30 years or more of service life, buyers better find a safe place to stash their receipt. Some manufacturers have been working hard to shake this reputation, though. See also: How to build the perfect livestock fence Preservative-treated timber fence posts have developed a pretty dire reputation over the past decade or so.Ĭountless farmers have shelled out thousands for these products, gone to the expense of putting them into a fence and then found, five years down the line, that they’ve rotted off at ground level.Īs a result, many have lost faith in posts treated with modern preservatives, turning back to time-proven, pressure-treated creosote, or adopting metal or recycled plastic versions. All in all, Kermit became the embodiment of how social media can become a machine of criticism.īut not all conclusions drawn from Kermit are negative, for Kermit can actually help us to see what society values as moral or ethical, point out logical fallacies, and question the status quo. In that regard, Kermit became a vehicle for airing questions or legitimate concerns without making it seem like you care too much (because apparently caring too much about something is terribly wrong in today’s world, but that’s none of my business). It serves to make it seem as though society doesn’t care, when in reality it cares very much. Furthermore, the final phrase, “but that’s none of my business,” has implications of its own. Kermit showed us just how thirsty society is to release its vexations, and just how willing we are to do so when it occurs online. But with social networks memes like Kermit’s promote the slandering of others in exchange for likes. Prior to social media people would air their grievances with one another face to face, or behind the other party’s back which tended to make you a coward, or a really bad friend. I personally believe that Kermit exemplifies how social media has changed society’s tendencies to publicly criticize others. What’s changing, however, is where and when people discuss their criticisms of others. It’s long been known that people hold their own opinions about the actions of others, for humans are critical by necessity. But once again I am left wondering if Kermit and his unquenchable thirst for savagery reveals anything about our society. This unwritten rule produced wonderful memes (not to mention tons of free advertising for Lipton). These two images are either of Kermit sipping from a glass of Lipton tea, or Kermit seated at a table drinking a glass of milk. Furthermore, the meme added to its own brand when a majority of memesters (that is the official term) began using one of two specific images. What makes this form of the meme unique is that they all begin with a situation in which one party is exposed for some deplorable action followed by Kermit’s concession that it was none of his business. source: source: Who was the first to start the all too familiar punchline? Well that’s none of my business, but what came after its conception was a meme of epic proportions (which is very much my business). Unlike the memes’ later form, these first iterations lacked a universal image and thus were overtaken upon the arrival of the hallowed punchline. They described situations that we find to be awkward or a situation in which another party feels bitter, and often depicted Kermit in a car. These memes were much more situational memes. One key identifier is that these prototypes lacked the punchline, “but that’s none of my business.” None the less, they were hilarious in their own right and still had their own theme. These first version Kermit memes became very popular in their own right. The original meme began appearing in the first few months of 2014. To start, Kermit (the meme) actually did not begin in his final form. So what happened to let our friendly green puppet become the authority on morality and ethics? These punchlines made fun of a comprehensive list of society’s most questionable behaviors and awkward situations. To put it in the words of The Anchorman, the internet was left saying, “that escalated quickly.” The Kermit meme was soon calling nearly everyone out for almost anything, but it of course was, “none of his business”. Kermit the Frog had taken over social media and this time he wasn’t the fun loving Muppet. Now I can continue to sip on my Coke with ice and not tea.Back in the beginning of 2014 seemingly nothing was the internet’s business thanks to a little green amphibian. One man even posted an Instagram photo of bound-and-gagged plush Kermit along with the caption “Finally someone did me the favor and shut #Kermit up. Although #Kermit is still trending on twitter, most of the recent tweets on the issue are demanding that the frog shut up. The Twitter account tried to redeem Kermit’s reputation by tweeting one of the frog’s old quotes: “It’s nice to be important but it’s important to be nice.” Nice try, but I think it’s too late for that.įortunately, it seems that the Twitter majority is now leaning in the same direction as me. In what has to be the most unfortunate form of accidental product placement to occur in a long time, the majority of the memes use a photo of Kermit sippin’ Lipton tea, They’re also incredibly disrespectful towards women and, by implication, to the men to whom they are presumably assigning these quotes.Īlso, on a much more minor note, poor Lipton. They’re blatantly racist, with a large portion of the memes using racial slurs and assigning demeaning stereotypes to black people. While some people clearly think these memes are hilarious, I think they’re obscene. This includes both iPhone and Android phones so you can make hands-free calls. The aids can be paired to eight devices and stream from two of them at a time. Universal Bluetooth connectivity is another useful ability. You don’t have to worry about sweat damaging them or having to take them out to shower. You can keep your hearing aids in to swim, raft, and play in the water. That is up to ½ a meter in your choice of a pool, fresh, or salt water. There is a waterproof option, Audéo Lumity Life, that is safe up to 50 cm (19.6 in). It comes in a variety of colors, including black, champagne, beige, chestnut, sandalwood, and two shades of gray. The average national cost for a pair of hearing aids is $2,000-7000 so the Lumity is in the higher range but a normal price. This comes to a total of $5,838-$7,818 per pair, out of pocket. The price for one unit ranges from an average of $2,919 to $3,909 based on performance levels. This includes hearing multiple speakers at once. StereoZoom helps you hear from a variety of speaker directions while blocking out non-essential noises. It creates improvement in sound quality, speech intelligibility, and suppression of interrupting noise. It significantly improves the ability to hear speech in noisy environments. A research study showed that StereoZoom works. It creates an overall lessened amount of listening effort required. StereoZoom is an improved “zoom” microphone mode to further reduce background noise. When the environment is quieter, the vent opens to provide a more natural hearing experience.Īnother new feature is new microphones. It helps block noise in loud environments by closing the vent to block out environmental noise. It is the world’s first intelligent hearing aid speaker, according to Phonak. It does this in part by using ActiveVent, a mechanically switching vent. It changes quickly so you can hear seamlessly in a wide variety of settings. It has as many as seven automatic programs the hearing aids will switch between. AutoSense quickly captures and analyzes your environment and automatically makes adjustments based on the sounds it’s hearing. The 5.0 update made improvements in both user comfort and speech understanding. It is an AI machine-learning program that scans your environment 700 times a second. It uses AutoSense 5.0, ActiveVent, and StereoZoom.ĪutoSense 5.0 is an improvement on the existing AutoSense feature. SmartSpeech technology is a collection of features designed to improve speech understanding and allow less effort needed to hear in a variety of environments. It also has a portable case version that can charge them up to three times while you’re on the go. It takes only three hours for a full charge. It’s that simple- wireless and without the need for cords. You place the aids inside it and it charges. Its charging case is much like a wireless earbud case. This new aid improves on a major pain point of previous models- the charger. There are two main categories of improvement- the charging system and the hearing aid technology. Please note, currently only Phonak Marvel, Phonak Paradise or Phonak Audeo B-Direct aids are compatible.Learn more about Phonak’s newest hearing aids. If you are unsure as to the compatibility of your hearing aids, please contact us before purchasing. The audio signal is streamed to all connected hearing aids simultaneously. More than one Phonak Marvel or Paradise hearing aid wearer in the house? Not a problem - the Phonak TV Connector supports an unlimited amount of compatible hearing aids with one device. The Phonak TV Connector comes with a USB cable which fits a standard USB adaptor, (not supplied) It supports two different audio cable inputs: Optical (Toslink) or Analog (3.5 mm jack). The Phonak TV Connector can be connected to any audio source such as a TV, PC or HiFi system. (When powering up the TV Connector for the first time, the connection to the hearing aids within range will be initiated automatically and the hearing aids will play a confirmation tone.) No need for a complicated pairing process. It’s ‘plug ‘n play’ : as soon as the TV Connector is connected to the TV and power source, it will automatically detect any compatible hearing aids within a 1 meter radius. The TV Connector streams directly to the hearing aids within a range of up to 15 meters. The proprietary 2.4 GHz streaming protocol provides energy efficient audio streaming from any TV and stereo system. The Phonak TV Connector is an easy-to-setup and easy-to-use device that can be used with Phonak Paradise, Phonak Marvel and Phonak Audéo B-Direct hearing aids. Any part you have bought for an existing 5-speed will work with this kit. Q) Will this work with my 3.16 RG and current Limited Slip?Ī) Yes. I've been extremely busy preparing for TDIfest, consequently I don't live on the forums anymore, but still am around as much as possible. Alternatively the last couple seconds of this clip should sum it all up nicely. Just look at some of the cool stuff we have and that should answer your question. Meanwhile, here is a pic of our first working unit.Ī) Obviously you don't know me too well. We will update this thread with information as it becomes available. This is not limited to the TDI either, this kit will also work for the gassers. The plan is to start with the 02J, but as interest grows for other kits we will expand. We will have options for taller ring and pinions, and probably eventually we'll have a custom R&P that can be installed. There will be different price levels depending on what you want to do. Everything needed to do the swap will be included in this kit. You will therefore retain your original clutch, starter, axles, mounts, shift box/linkage, etc. This is a complete bolt on kit to turn your 02J 5-speed transmission into a 6-speed. Finally, lot of things, we are ready to post this up. Towing our 11,700-pound race setup (car, golf cart, tools, and such in a 28-foot enclosed hauler), in two evaluations across the same 125-mile route, fuel economy averaged 11.4 mpg (about where mileage was with the E4OD and the truck NOT towing) markedly higher than 9 mpg with the four-speed transmission.Well folks, this kit has been a work in progress since 2005. Since this test, fuel economy is consistent for city (14.6 mpg/typically Fourth gear) and freeway (17 to 19 mpg) driving. With the new gearbox, mileage increased to 19 mpg (22 mpg/only sipped 3 gallons during one 66.4-mile stretch) for the same distance, while also cruising at 65 mph, with the transmission in Sixth gear. On our outbound trip with the E4OD four-speed automatic and ECM programming set to a “Stock” tune (note that the truck’s 7.3L Power Stroke engine is upgraded with 160cc/30-percent-over injectors and a high-volume lift pump), the 8,400-pound dualie averaged 11.5 mpg over the course of 350 miles (65 mph, transmission in Fourth gear). Given the rising fuel prices in California (almost $4.00 per gallon for #2 diesel in some areas of L.A.), it’s something we really appreciate. While the performance differences presented in the chart are dramatic…and impressive, more impressive is the effect the Allison 1000 six-speed automatic has on Big White’s fuel usage. The transmission’s low First gear (3.1:1) also limits hammer-down/ from-a-standstill takeoff performance (the truck will lag a bit, then take off as boost comes up), unless, of course, it’s dragging a loaded, heavy trailer. So, don’t think that after several miles of highway and then street driving, the Allison will adjust quickly enough to provide lightning-fast shifts at wide-open throttle if you accelerate hard from a dead stop. The caveat here is that while adaptive learning technically happens on the fly, it is not an immediate/ instant process. While tuning/custom-calibrating is not possible with the CA system, thanks to Allison’s Adaptive Learning technology, our setup’s baseline shift strategy (technically for a medium-duty, industrialstyle diesel engine like a Cummins) is automatically modified during road testing to support the ways in which Big White is driven and used. See all 42 photos 42 photos Mat loads a pre-programmed Allison transmission map into the TCM (programs are developed based on an engine’s torque output across its rpm band). It also has a billet piston and L-trim stator and a braised impeller and turbine. The zerobalance, 1,900-rpm-stall torque converter in the package features five redesigned (square-tab) clutch packs and pistons that provide better clamping on the pressure plates, ensuring separator and clutch plates are properly applied and provide even pressure. The channel and valvebody castings are machined to eliminate cross leaks, a critical step that confirms the valvebody’s hydraulic integrity. Custom A- and B-trim valves are installed in the valvebody to increase hydraulic pressure and volume to the clutch packs, as are new solenoids for greater overall reliability. Inside the Allison, ATS adds a modified pump for increased fluid flow and cooling and reworks the hubs, drums, shafts, and planetaries to resolve an issue these parts have with cracking in severe-use situations. Here’s a look at the internal makeup of an ATS Diesel Performance Stage 1 LCT1000 six-speed automatic transmission and TripeLok torque converter. Polaris Office is a collaborative work platform. I won't be spoiling Higurashi's events itself, but to actually explain the series I will be breaking down the actual structure and why I found it to be pretty cool. (Don't worry there won't be to much talk of the visual novel.) Oh! I bet you guys are watering at the mouth to read a poorly done pseudo-review of some guy who hasn't had 5 minutes to sit on a series he just watched and speaks on the original source material even though he's never played it himself. Instead of being the critic today, I'll speak to you as if a friend were suggesting the series to you. However, I don't like following guidelines and for the series in question distancing myself from the norm is a necessity. I dislike doing traditional reviewing on a consistent basis because really as a reviewer your expected to follow certain patterns, certain guidelines. However earlier today I finally wrapped up the series (Higurashi obviously) I've been watching for about a month, so I decided to do something a little special since the series was still fresh in my mind. I must admit I am not a fan of reviews, I prefer to do analysis and theories. However, some noteworthy performances include Natasha Fatale, Jerry ( Tom and Jerry). Sadly, Foray went largely uncredited for the bulk of her roles. Iconically known for her role as Granny, she began her career as a child actor in 1930 at 12 and continued working the rest of her life as one of the most prominent, albeit least recognized, women in voice over. While she’s most notably credited with playing the role of Rocky for several decades, Foray’s first and most enduring voice over performance lasted a collective 87 years on The Looney Tunes. An entire lifetime and several iterations of the character later, she reprised the iconic role on the big screen for the last time on film in 2014. This one is a bit of a throwback, but June Foray’s generation-spanning role as the plucky squirrel named Rocky dates back to The Bullwinkle Show in 1959. Rocky – Voiced by June Foray – The Cartoon Queen of Voice Acting The ability to adapt your voice and transform it into a character of the opposite gender for over a decade – let alone eight is remarkable. It takes practiced patience, sheer determination, and an intelligent approach to cut it in this industry. Having been in the industry for 30 years, I tell people outside the voiceover world that having a great voice isn’t everything and it takes more to become a successful voice actor. Three Male Characters in Animation Surprisingly Portrayed by Female ActorsĪs a voice actor, range is everything it doesn’t matter if it’s a short video or an entire movie the job is to bring a script to life. Television shows like The Simpsons have been on the air for 33 years, and most people would never suspect that the voice actor who plays Bart Simpson is a woman, nor would they ever realize how many male voices they hear are female. We grow up with voices coming out of the tv, but we never honestly know who they are until someone spells it out for us. Be they a flying squirrel, a boy genius, or a troublemaking kid with a catchphrase – all of these memorable animated friends we see on video are voiced by women, and the average person probably couldn’t tell the difference.Īnd that’s just in the mainstream North American industry – Japan is a totally different story. The truth is, while it’s less common than hearing female roles voiced by men, there are a lot of male animated characters voiced by women, and most of us would never realize it. The same goes for the actors who provide male voices. When we look at an animated series like South Park, where some of our favorite female characters voiced are actually men like the show’s creator, Trey Parker, or even Bob’s Burgers, where many female characters are male actors, it speaks volumes to the effect a different set of vocal qualities can bring to the table – especially in the field of comedy. When we see cartoon characters on the TV screen, it’s easy to forget that there are real people behind the voices it’s even easier never to suspect that the voice actor behind a role isn’t even the same gender as the character they portray. There have been a lot of online lists going up recently that talk about some of the best female characters voiced by men, and I thought it was only fitting to add my list of iconic male characters voiced by women. Six of the Best Female Animation Voice Actors Who Play Iconic Male Voices Here are six of the best female voice actors you’d never recognize and five honorable mentions of female characters voiced by A-Listers. We’ll explore different interpretations of what we might consider the best between North America and Japan. So when it comes to animated TV and film, instead of simply calling this post The Best Female Animation Voice Actors, I’ll be casting a slightly wider net. Often, all their hard work goes unrecognized – ironically, partly because of how great they are at their jobs. However we choose to define it, whenever we hear the female characters voiced in TV and film, we tend to forget just how difficult animated mediums are to break into. Some of the most successful actresses in voice over have made their careers out of portraying male characters and have had to adapt to fit roles they usually wouldn’t be considered for in the first place – all to find work in the voice over industry. What constitutes “the best” when we talk about female animation voice actors? Is it the iconic characters they play, the genre, or the production house? Does it boil down to whether they’re prolific or appear in a single iconic role?
